I've ran both MAP and Cobb stage 1 tunes and the difference is night a day. Even though the Cobb tune does open up the power band a little better compared to stock, it lacks raw power in comparison to MAP's tune. MAP's tune will put you back in your seat all the way across to redline, making the car feel fun again. Worth every penny!!
I have a bone stock 2015 WRX and I just loaded this map today after trying out the Cobb stage 1 map. All I can say is WOW! The Cobb map was ok but felt blah. The MAP Stage 1 map blew it away. I ran the Accessport 0-60 just to see how much of a difference between the two maps would be. The first run was on the Cobb Stage 1 with traction control ON and cut a 0-60 of 6.203 sec. The second run was the MAP Stage 1 with traction control ON and cut a 0-60 of 5.948 sec. The last run was the MAP Stage 1 with traction control OFF and cut a 0-60 of 5.010 sec. Temperature was 95* here in VA and very humid so I can only expect the performance to be even better when the temps outside drop. I'd give this 10 stars if it was possible.
I read the reviews and kicked it around for several months. I ended up finally pulling the trigger after 13000 miles. By then you're kind of sort of used to the touchy jumpiness of the stock flash. I figured it would take me awhile to get used to driving again, but it's so smooth both in throttle and power band you get used to it so easily. This is really how it ought to be out of the factory.
I have a 2016 Subaru WRX I've had for a few months and was getting very frustrated about the stock configuration of the throttle mapping and the standard safety parameters of the stock ecu. I live in California where the market is flooded with different opinions and types of tunes. After getting my Accessport and being really disappointed with the OTS Stage 1 tune from COBB I was looking for a tune that would fit my driving style better. I purchased the MAP OTS Stage 1 91 tune and have been nothing short of pleased with the outcome. the tune has more power and a smoother curve through the RPM range. I've been running the tune now for the last few weeks and have had no problems. Currently in the California summer I've noticed the parameters changing feedback from the computer making corrections, at first I was really concerned but after talking to Ian and others in the MA Performance team, I have a much better understanding with the new platform. Thanks MA Performance for all the love and help. Will be purchasing more quality products from my favorite aftermarket performance company for my platform.
Mods: COBB AP, Nameless 3 inch axle backs. I've had the MAP map for about a month. When I first got the COBB AP and installed it for the first time on my 17 WRX I was not impressed with COBB's stage 1 OTS map. It is not as hyped up as everyone made it seem. The stock map in my opinion had a better feel. So after about an hour with the COBB map and a little research I stumbled on Map Performance's stage 1 map. I read nothing but great reviews so for 75 bucks I figured why not give it a shot. Thank goodness I did you guys hit it out of the ballpark with this map. The boost, torque, and overall smoothness in the power band is remarkable! This is how the WRX should come from the factory (take some notes Subaru sales would probably increase). I will definitely come visit the MAP stage 2 maps when I decide to add a down pipe and intake. You guys are awesome keep up the outstanding work! If you own a 15+WRX this map is a no brainer.
Stop thinking about doing this and pull that trigger. This map is mindblowing as far as how smooth the shifting becomes, power delivery smooth and ALL the way through, and takes the all around driveability of the car to a completely different level. I absolutely cannot believe something like this is possible for how easy it is...and for this price! Great job on this one MAP!!!
MAPerformance stage one on 93.
Boomba Full Recirc BPV
Nameless axle-back (muffler delete)
That's it. Nothing else....
But HOLY BALLS. What a difference. This is how the stock map SHOULD have been. Solid throttle response, rev hang has been dropkicked in the face, and the power delivery is absolutely breath taking. She pulls ALL-THE-WAY to redline. It's so beautiful I might cry typing this. I swapped out my TurboXS 50/50 Hybrid BOV for the full recirc and thought I was gonna miss the PSHHH.. but I don't. I'm too busy smiling.
If you own a 15+ WRX, get the **** MAPerformance map. Meant for stock, but you wouldn't believe it driving. Seriously. No longer do I drive a Subaru. I drive a Subaru WRX baby.
Big shout out to Ian for being super fast and super friendly. Excellent customer service here. I truly can't thank MAPerformance enough for all the joy they have brought.
Im really enjoying this tune so far. Been riding with it for a week now. Coming from the Cobb Stage 1 93 OTS I was skeptical if this tune would significantly increase power as stated by their numbers. I was certainly surprised by the feel of the car. Car has more power on the top end and pushes you back into your seat like it would on the not so fun stock tune. This tune feels great. Readings are fine on the AP. Took a few days for DAM to understand and feel out the car, but right now everything checks out. If you already have the AP are running the OTS tune, stop it. More power is more fun, right?
Thanks, this will hold me over until I start burning corn.
Everything said in previous reviews are spot on. Throttle, Power, Smoothness are all much better. It actually produces power north of 5k now. For 75 bucks.... This tune is a steal. Thanks to Ian and staff for the great customer service.
1. Throttle hang fix. I was constantly riding the clutch in my stock tune, and 1st to 2nd gear was NEVER smooth. I've been driving manual for ten years, and I felt like I had forgot how to shift properly.. I noticed the difference immediately. The throttle hang is still there, but it's perfectly timed for my shifts, and the transmission falls into 2nd gear effortlessly now. This is especially noticeable when turning, as this was a common place for me to drop the clutch quicker than usual and cause the car to lurch. This alone makes the AP and tune worth it.
2. Linear Throttle. I miss the old cable throttle I had on my Acura Integra when I was younger. This is as close as it gets. Getting into heavy boost at 25% throttle was ridiculous, and caused a lot of rocking of passengers when you shift from 2nd to 3rd while in boost. Daily driving with this tune means I only go into boost unless I want to, making everything smoother and a much more realistic driving experience.
3. Fuel Savings. Okay, not yet. I'm still having too much fun driving this and it's only been a few days. BUT, when I was driving responsibly, I was using much less boost and shifting more easily. Fuel savings while driving in the city is going to occur with this tune.
4. Decreased wear on Turbo and Engine. This tags along with the linear nature of the throttle and subsequent boost response, but this is especially important in 5th and 6th gear, where I was able to get 5-10PSI of boost at 2,500RPM. I know that this is terrible on the car, but the stock ECU allowed for it, so it happened from time to time when I didn't think to downshift. The new throttle response requires you to downshift and floor it to feel the boost at higher RPM.
5. POWER. Much more fun to drive!!! Especially when going to redline.
I'm a bit sad that the car no longer has the gut churning punch on the low end, but this is the justified compromise to the points above.
Lastly, thanks to Ian for being an amazing rep. Grea...
This tune erased any bout of buyer's remorse regarding the WRX induced by the horrendous stock tune. I echo all of the positive comments left by previous reviews and it's a significant jump in power delivery/driveability over the Cobb stage 1 tune.
I have been running the Cobb 93 map for a few months and decided I would give MA a try after reading some favorable reviews on it and watching some favorable YouTube videos on it. I flashed it before leaving work tonight and man oh man, this is the real deal. It matches the Cobb's nice even power band, but when you drop the hammer it gets the added seat sinking punch that the Cobb tune just can't compete with. I am also a HUGE fan of all the play my gas pedal now has. With the stock and Cobb tune it was like push it a little get 10%, push it a little more get 25%, push it a little more 100%. The stock pedal action was a whole of of all or nothing. The MA has equal gains throughout the entire pedal throw.
I am more than happy with my purchase, especially considering how affordable this upgrade is.
I run the 93 map so I can't really comment on the 91, but can only assume it's just as good.
This ots map is great. I have the 91oct stage 1 map. If you're thinking about getting a tune to break away from that crappy stock tune for your 2015+ wrx then this is the answer. Better handling and drivability is what you will notice right away. The power delivery is all the way til redline unlike stock which dies after 5k rpm or so. This one is linear and doesn't give you too much boost until you get on it which makes the car easier to drive. It also gives more noticeable power for sure. The one thing that I also like is that I can go crawling at 5mph in a crowded parking lot without my car shaking and almost stalling when your foot is off the clutch. (Wrx owners knows the feeling) So overall this is a great stage 1 ots map to run assuming you're all stock and only have an AP. If you have any other bolt ons, you can always consult the customer service first. Ian is a great guy and responds promptly with inquiries.
At first I wasn't really sure if it was gonna be worth the money to go from a Cobb 91 ots map to the MAPerformance 91 map but man I'm glad I bought it! It's amazing and scary how fast the car gets to redline now! Feels a lot more responsive and the boost is consistent, as in it doesn't fluctuate all over the place. I wish I could have gotten the 93 map but there aren't any 93 pumps anywhere near me. But I am still very happy with this 91 map and it's definitely worth the money
This is a great OTS Tune! Having gone from stock MAP, to the Cobb Stage 1 MAP, to the MAPerformance Stage 1 MAP. There is a night and day difference between the 3. The MAPerformance Stage 1 gives a consistent smooth boost throughout the whole RPM Band. Ian is the main reason that I purchased from MAPerformance. He is willing to help anytime. For that reason I have ordered the MAP intake and J-Pipe along with their Stage 2 Map.
Stoked to get everything installed and see how the powerband changes.
Thanks again Ian.
If you are considering an OTS tune, but dont want to fork out tons of money when you are just seeking stable performance that improves on the stock platform. This is the tune for you. I daily my car and have racked up 63k miles in 2 years. During that time I have dont a A LOT of varied types of driving. And so far (For the past 1200 miles) The tune from MAPerformance has been the most enjoyable driving out of the entire time I have owned my vehicle.
Power is smoother, shifting is crisper, and boost is more stable and predictable. Overall a solid tune and will lead to long term enjoyment of the car!
Keep it up guys, youre doing something right!
So let me first off start by saying that the customer service is absolutely top notch. Ian has been amazing through the whole process with not only this tune, but questions regarding their exhaust. Their products are of great quality and reliability. I have high regards for their products and their service!
As far as the tune goes! Just as others have mentioned it is night and day between the stock tune. Power comes on sooner and is more linear. I didn't feel a huge difference in the butt dyno compared to the cobb stage one. However, the power comes on strong and pulls to redline unlike the stock where it falls off at 4k rpm. Monitored vitals for a week while driving with no problems. It will probably be better for the engine in terms of longevity anyway. Ian comforted me in knowing it would be safe and definitely worth it even though I have Subaru's extended warranty. If your on the fence, just do it. I'm not one to take the time to write reviews, but this product was worth the time! Go for it!!!
I am very pleased with the cobb accessport and the stage 1 OTS 93 octane tune. The feel of the car is much better and has a very noticeable difference in power once you hit 3K rpm. The car pulls all the way to redline, which never happened with the stock tune. The vehicles drivability is much improved and is a must have, even if you don't want to do any further modifications.
Moving onto Maperformance, I am very impressed with them on the delivery. I received the accessport three days after I ordered it, with using the basic shipping option. Every time I've called and had a question, they are very nice and reply back quickly. I emailed them about the stage 1 tune, when I received the accessport in the mail, and had the tune emailed to me in under an hour. Stage two will be coming soon. I can't wait to make future purchases with Maperformance.
The boys at MAP did a fantastic job on this tune. I bought my AP from them and from 5000km on i was rocking out their Stage 1 91/93 tune for another 20KM before moving to Stage 2. You will be amazed at how much better this tune is than the factory tune on any 15-17 WRX. It is well worth it and if you purchase an AP from MAP you can even get the tune free I believe, at least that's how I got mine and their AP price was very good. I have since moved to Stage 2 using their catted jpipe, great quality as well!
So been about 500 miles put on my 2017 WRX premium with MAPerformace stage 1 OTS 93 octane tune. here's a few of my collective thoughts on this tune. Lets start with the Great, customer service from MAPerformace is some of the best in the business ordered tune and with in a few minutes received a prompt response back from Ian for everything I needed for tune set up on accessport. Another great feature about this tune is the gas milage, on stock tune I was averaging about 20.2 miles per gallon and usually less, now with the MAPerformance im looking at 28.6 consistently. Makes me and my wallet feel better when I fill up at the pump. Now time for the good. This tune compared to the stock vehicles tune is as noticeable as day and night, vehicle went from OVER responsive and jerky, to smooth and consistent almost made me forget I had a WRX.The gas pedal like everyone says is now more linear and thank god too because the stock tune had me looking like a goonie over revving at every green light. Gas pedal feels as it finally should, have full range from slow medium and full pedal. Shifting and driving has become a breeze the vehicle feels so much smoother with this tune, however I still notice a slight revv hang in 1st and 2nd gear. This tune when it comes to the boost factor has me thankful but also a little ehhh I read the previous reviews saying that the vehicle felt faster and pulls harder.... I think thats debatable. This OTS tune really mellows out the boost and keeps it from spiking, it does give you some what power when you demand but doesn't throw you back in your seat like the stock tune did I found myself a bit disappointed about that but, considering the gas milage and preserving my turbo to last longer ill suck it up. Overall this a a pretty good tune certainly made the vehicle more comfortable for daily driving. I gave this tune a 4 star rating because I feel the cost of the tune was a bit pricy considering its an OTS for a stock vehicle. Happy travels
Def way better than the Cobb ots. Very stable and the car actually runs better/smoother. Also great customer service Ian does a great job. Def gonna be looking for stage2 from these guys. Keep up the good work!
Everything that was wrong with the stock tune (which was a ton), is now fixed with MAPerformance tune. Cobb's tune was nice at first but with this tune there is so much power up top and absolutely pulls till redline with no hesitation. Get this tune now!
Tune feels amazing compared to COBB's OTS stage 1. Pulls hard and strong all the way to red line and wants to keep going. Feels more aggressive than cobb's tune while maintaining the same gas mileage. Throttle response is linear and makes shifting/driving a breeze. I emailed Ian about receiving the tune and he instantly replied within the same minute! Best customer service there is!
MAP stage 1 OTS tune is a big improvement on COBBS' tune and even bigger on factory. Tune is smooth and stable. And, power gain is noticeable. Well, worth it!
Best bang for the bucks way better than the cobb stage 1 93 map.
The car feel amazing and the power band is so wide
You guys make an excellent job !
No more rev hang, incredible throttle response and no more drop off of power at 5k. I'm using the 93 time and couldn't be happier. Best money I have spent on the Subie thus far. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to wake up their WRX.
Super happy with the tune. The car feels very quick and throttle is very linear, compared to stock, and much more stable than the Cobb OTS tune for me. Great job, guys!
I have the OTS stage 1 tune, it's a great tunefor eing an OTS, had the cobb ots before and the MAPerformance tune was more stable and smoothing across the rpm range. I did have some issues with knock with the cobb OTS but haven't had any iddue with the MAP OTS, looking forward to going stage 2 pretty soon
I installed the Stage 1 91 map on my 17 WRX and it's the way it should have come from the factory. Incredibly smooth tune and finally normal throttle mapping. No more rev hang either! The harder you push the gas the more power you generate as a normal car should. No knock at all that I have seen, and I've had the tune on since early September and driven it under several types of driving conditions spirited and over mountain passes. Excellent work guys! I'll be coming to you guys for stage 2 down the line.
I have a 2017 WRX with the MAPerformance Stage 1 91 Octane tune. I wanted to give the tune a try after watching several video reviews on Youtube. It has the linear throttle response, much like the COBB Stage 1 OTS tune. The tune also has the same linear power delivery but kicks it up several notches. It pulls very strong and throws me back in the seat!
On the OTS tune, my peak boost was ~18 PSI. On the MAPerformance tune, my peak boost is ~20 PSI and it maintains boost more consistently throughout the rev range. Feedback Knock and Fine Knock Learning have stayed at 0; DAM holds at 1 both in stop and go traffic (hot day, A/C on) and during pulls.
I would recommend this tune if you plan on keeping the engine's stock components, but want more power. It is significantly stronger than the COBB Stage 1 OTS. Customer service is great! I placed my order at 7 AM and had my tune e-mailed to me before 12 noon.
Everyone has said everything possible about this OTS tune but more never hurts. For clarification, I have a 2017 Subaru WRX and have been waiting anxiously for months for Cobb to release the firmware for the my17 WRX. Well that day finally came a few weeks ago and I finally pulled the trigger and got the accessport and OTS tune from MAP. The accessport is nothing short of what you'd expect from Cobb. Now the tune is AWESOME. Don't even bother with the Cobb stage one tune, the MAP tune is 838461759952x better than stock. The shifts are smoother and easier, the pedal isn't full throttle at 25% anymore, the powerband is linear and pulls all the way to redline, knock is gone from the stock tune, blah blah blah blah blah. All you need to know is that you NEED this OTS tune because it'll make you smile and the butt dyno is better than your girlfriend (or boyfriend). Thanks MAPerfirmance!!
Love how the jerking and touchy throttle is gone. Car is so much easier to drive now. The extra power in the top end is also a big plus. I now don't feel bad about revving past 5k rpms because it has power up there now! This is how a car should drive. Customer service is also top notch. Thanks maperformance for making my car so much more fun and easy to drive!
Seen MA Performance YouTube page just randomly looking at 2016 WRX's videos as its addicting watching them as driving them and i stumbled upon Ian reviewing the Cobb Accessport. It soon lead me to their pro tune which i felt skeptical at first but figured with such positive comments in their YouTube review i figured ill shoot them an email. Once contacted the response was quick and easy! Within a few hours i managed to get the courage and bought the tune. Service Was BEYOND EXCEPTIONAL!!!!! I went to Install MA Performance Stage 1 tune on my access port and as soon as i went to do some pull's i was able to build more boost more quickly. Not only was the improvement in power noticeable, so was the comfort sitting in 5 o'clock traffic. MA Performance tune Has completely exiled the the Jerky blotch from stock forum and still manage to be noticeably smoother then what Cobb stage one had to offer. I already love the tune and cant wait until i take this for more spirited driving
THANKS MA PERFORMANCE
Very happy w/ this tune, drivability is excellent and it runs a lot better now.
Revs just keep on climbing very smooth and linear all the way to redline.
So much hidden power compared to that horrible factory tune (c'mon Subaru!!!!!!) But I can feel that intake and exhaust will really wake this flat four up. Stage 2 coming to a subie near you :)
Tks Ian for the tune, still free if you get the accessport from them. Can't beat that!!
Seems like once the ecu is flashed the tune becomes progressively better as you drive for a bit. Initially it felt OK, but after an hour or so i realized the powerband had shifted...instead of short shifting at 5k rpm because power died i found myself shifting around 6800rpm. And the rpm's do come quick! Feels much nicer than stock. Boost also seems to peak 22 to 24psi for a longer duration compared to stock. Monitoring my DAM, knock feedback and fine knock i have only seen a maximum of 4 reported on fine knock and feedback using 4th gear from an uphill dig ( i wanted to induce knock). On normal full throttle usage i see a report of 1.41 on fine knock during hot 90 degree days...well within norm. DAM has never moved. Keep your engine in the happy zone boosting above 3300rpm and knock is non existent on. Digging from low rpm in higher gears seems to induce some knock and that seems to be the same with the stock tune.
Good job MA.
I have spent the last week running the Cobb 93 stage one tune and absolutely love it compared to the stock tune. No herky jerky, it's smooth like butter. And watching the tach climb almost instantly kept a smile on my face. Here a couple of hours ago and a half personal day from work I have this MAP tune flashed to the car. I have now maxed out my boost gauge and the main thing going through my head is "weeeeee". I highly recommend MAP tuning and they also have great customer service! BIg shout out to Ian :) Frankenstein is out of the box!
