When considering suspension solutions, many times, customers forget to consider the quality of the springs that are being used. There are so many aspects to shock absorber features, options and adjustments, that it can be easy to forget how critical the role of the spring is. When choosing a spring, it is important to consider these major factors:

  • Stroke: Explained as the distance the spring can compress from a state of being completely relaxed
  • Weight: The overall complete weight of the spring
  • Accuracy of the advertised Spring Weight: Linear spring weight can be defined as the amount of weight that is required to move a spring 1 inch. For example, if you have a 450lb per inch linear spring, it should compress 1 inch for the first 450lb’s of weight and then 1 more inch when another 450lb weight is added. At that point, the spring will have compressed 2 inches in response to the total weight of 900lbs being applied.
  • Durability: Defined as the amount of cycles the spring can endure before it starts to fatigue and become worn out.

Now that we have a very basic understanding of some of the factors that should be considered when choosing a spring, it would be prudent to ask “OK then, so what makes Swift Springs so great?” The answer actually boils down to one fundamental major differentiator and that gives Swift Springs their competitive edge, the use of their own proprietary steel alloy Swift refers to as "HS5.TW." The alloy was developed as a superior option to conventional materials in all of the above aspects and when combined with Swift Spring’s special winding process. They are able to achieve the same spring rates of their competition but with many less coils (half as many in some instances).
