The OVERTAKE Exhaust Manifold to Head Gasket seals the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head on the H6 Subaru using multi-layer steel construction with a stainless steel fire ring. If you run an EZ30 or EZ36, you have probably found out that Subaru no longer sells this gasket, and the budget aftermarket versions that filled the gap do not hold up.
The original OEM gasket sat in a hot, high-pressure spot and did its job, but Subaru discontinued it (44011AG040). What is left on the shelf is mostly thin, stamped material that is not fully stainless, which is where the dreaded waffle-gasket blowout comes from. The OVERTAKE Exhaust Manifold to Head Gasket is built for the Subaru H6 the way this joint should be sealed, covering the 2004-2009 Outback through the later Legacy and Tribeca.
