The CEL free downpipe is a must for me. The resonator is also recommended for a less trumpet-y sound. Overall MAP looks solid and well made. It was incredibly easy to install, and had minimal issues connecting to my MBRP catback. I wasn't able get my tune & accessport in the mail just yet. I'll probably also add a small vibrant resonator in the mid-pipe to take care of some minimal drone.
I purchased the MAPerformance catted downpipe (not the Gesi catted option) with a resonated midpipe. Install was easier than I expected, removing the old DP is what took most of the time during the entire install. Sound is exactly as advertised in the many videos out there showcasing this DP. In my application (for now) I am piped into my stock catback and this DP greatly deepened the exhaust note and allows for some mild DSG “farts”. Overall I am very happy with this product especially considering the price. I will note, I took the gamble as I couldn’t find definitive feedback one way or another. The MAPerformance catted DP (not the EPA certified Cat) DID give me a CEL, but I had a good hunch it would.
I installed this by myself in my garage on jack stands, hardest part was getting the stock DP out. Installing the MAPerformance DP was much easier. Great fitment and no issues with exhaust leak. The two piece with V-band provided was perfect. This is my daily and was worried about my commute being too loud/smell. I went with a catted and non resonated DP, I have stock exhaust. This setup is perfect for daily driving, no drone or loudness unless you are above 3k-ish. I have a 2021 SE GTI tuned by EQT. No CEL as I left secondary O2 spacer unconnected by the fire wall. Driven on for about 500 miles and no issues. Love my decision to get with MAPerformance so far.
Amazing quality CEL free downpipe! Sounds good too with the GESI cat
Got the MAP Downpipe with the GESI Cat and have to say upon opening the box I could see it was definitely well made. Also the Gen II GESI cat (#50230) ensures you won't get a CEL (even on 2017 and up cars) which is important especially if you live in an area where you need to pass inspection. The hardest part of installation was getting the OE downpipe out. Those two 13mm bolts that attach it to the engine are a PITA to access and were hard to get off due to corrosion. Once it was out the new downpipe went in easily and fit like a glove. After driving it for about a week I checked with my Cobb Accessport to see if all of my emissions monitors had set and they had. Glad to see the GESI version lives up to its claims of being CEL free. No need to mess around with spacers anymore and hope that you will find one that will get rid of the CEL, which is a lot easier said than done, especially on these cars.
