Injen Air Intake/Upper Intercooler Pipe Kit 2008+ Mitsubishi Evolution EVO X

It sounds good, but one of the hoses aren't long enough. It needs some tweaking to make it fit. Lots of force needed

Installation was pretty easy with the instructions. Sound is amazing!

First off, the reason this has 4 stars and not 2 or 3 is because MAPerformance turnaround times are absolutely insane. From the time that I placed my order to the time that I had a tracking number in my email was 47 minutes. That's the fastest turnaround time I've ever gotten for any product off of any website, ever. When the email says "Every time an order comes in the two nearest forklift drivers rush to stage their machines drag race style.", I believe it.

The intake itself is great. I had an ETS intake before I purchased this, and it performs the same, maybe better. The throttle feels a little smoother, but perhaps that's just placebo for having a new part. You are able to clearly hear the intake and spooling sound just as clearly as you are with an ETS, and FAR greater than a stock intake. Additionally, it provides a sort of deep rumble that wasn't heard on either the ETS or stock intake during rev matching or very low RPM idling, which is nice. It is also easier to install than the ETS, and holds together much more solidly. And best of all, the reason I bought it in the first place, this intake is CARB legal. You can pass smog in restrictive states like CA with it.

Now onto the UICP. The pipes themselves are decent. The beadroll is pretty slim, which makes it difficult for the couplers to grab hold. And that is where the real problem lies. The couplers and the worm gears are trash. Two of the worm gears deformed with less than 5ft-lbs of torque. That's less tight than you could get with just a screwdriver. Replaced with different worm gears, and they blew off twice. Re-installed them with hairspray, which supposedly fixes this specific issue. And STILL blew off. Had to go and buy brand new 4ply couplers that were 1" oversized and Mishimoto constant tension wormgears, AND liberally apply hairspray to keep the couplers on. They're holding strong now, but the small beadroll and terrible 2ply couplers added quite a bit of cost onto this UICP just to keep it from blowing off.

If you're buying this, look forward to an excellent intake, but a nightmare of a UICP. Purchase the following 4ply couplers from a reputable supplier ahead of time to save yourself some headache.
2" ID x 3" straight hose
2.5" ID x 3" straight hose
2.5" ID x 3" hump hose.

As well as
4x 57-79mm constant tension worm gears OR spring loaded t-bolt clamps
2x 45-66mm constant tension worm gears OR spring loaded t-bolt clamps
Some strong hold hairspray.

Pictures included; How a good coupler should deform under some light pressure, vs how the injen supplied couplers deform. May as well be holding your uicp together with some wet printer paper instead of the injen couplers.

Have not yet received it, as I'm writing this one hour after buying. Will update after install. However, the processing time of Maperformance is the fastest of any product on any site I've ever ordered from. From the time my payment went through to when I got a shipment notification was 47 minutes.
