MAPerformance - Performance Car Parts & Accessories

So you want to modify your Mitsubishi Evo X

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best first mods for my Evo X?

The Evo X is an extremely robust platform, with plenty of dormant horsepower to unlock. Before doing so, there are a few core weak points that you’ll want to address before turning everything up. Other than typical maintenance like engine oil, spark plugs, drivetrain fluids etc., you’ll want to ensure the factory clutch master cylinder (CMC) has been upgraded. The factory unit is plastic and extremely prone to cracking, which will ultimately leave you stranded with a flat clutch pedal.

The next failure point to address is the factory exhaust manifold. These factory manifolds are all but guaranteed to form cracks in the runners, even in low mileage cars. If you’re wondering if yours is cracked, it’s best to assume that it is, and get to replacing it with an upgraded manifold ASAP.

Lastly, the factory fuel pump relays in these cars are known to fail prematurely, and are considered a maintenance item. We recommend changing these out every 30,000 miles or so to be on the safe side.

As long as these three core components are at the top of your list of upgrades, you’re going to have a much better experience further down the road.

What Evo X aftermarket parts does MAPerformance carry?

If there’s anything we know best, it’s the Evo X. We have developed upgrades and solutions to just about anything you can think of with these cars, from exhaust systems, tuning, and intakes to the best turbo manifolds and catch cans on the market.

Not only that, we are one of the largest OEM Mitsubishi parts suppliers in the USA, and can get you absolutely anything you need.

Does MAPerformance offer Evo X tuning solutions?

MAPerformance offers the Cobb Accessport V3 which allows for off the shelf calibrations (OTS maps) for pre-determined part configurations. Additional tuning resources are available beyond our catalog, for the stock ECU for more customizable, and specific requirements that a unique build may demand.

Do you ship Evo X parts to Canada?

Yes, we ship internationally including Canada. Shipping costs/fees are all calculated at checkout. If you have any questions about a specific item or any other shipping questions, reach out to our team.

What are the most common Evo X problems to watch out for?

Other than the CMC, exhaust manifold, and fuel pump relay issues we outlined earlier, the biggest trick to keep your Evo X happy is a disciplined maintenance schedule.

Change your oil every 3,000 miles or twice per year (if you don’t drive it at least 3,000 miles) with good oil. Spark plugs, drivetrain fluids, and AYC fluid are a good idea every 30,000 miles; especially you MR owners. That SST transmission is extremely sensitive to dirty and worn out fluid.

Following these simple best practices will go a long way in ensuring you have the most fun, and most rewarding experience modifying and driving your Evo X!
