    2008+ Evo X Girodisc Front Titanium Pad Shields by Girodisc (TS-1001)

    The problem of brake fluid boiling is simply traced to heat transferring from the rotors and pads directly into the fluid through the caliper pistons. When brake fluid boils, it releases air that is normally part of the molecular structure of the fluid. This air is compressible of course, and the brake pedal goes to the floor instead of moving the caliper pistons. Production cars tend to suffer from this on track days more as they don't usually have the extensive cooling duct and exotic brake materials as true racing cars. True racing only brake calipers generally come with titanium caliper pistons for one reason. Titanium as a material, has low thermal conductivity. This means that it is very bad at transferring heat. Which is good if you are trying to keep your fluid cool.

    The Girodisc solution to help prevent fluid boiling is to use a thin titanium shim placed between the pad back and the pistons, to keep the braking heat from transferring into the pistons and fluid. Here is a comparison of materials and their relative thermal conductivity ratings:

    Titanium 6AL-4V 6.7 W/mk Steel 52 W/mk Aluminum 130 W/mk

    You can see that Titanium will transfer far less heat than steel and especially aluminum. For cars that are going to see hard or multiple track days, these shims are cheap protection from loosing the pedal due to boiling at the wrong time and making the day very expensive.

    MAP Limited Lifetime Warranty

    1.) All MAPerformance in-house fabricated parts include a Limited Lifetime Warranty for the Original Purchaser. This warranty only applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferrable. If the product fails it would need to be determined by MAPerformance that it is due to manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship.

    2.) This does not cover normal wear and tear. Improper use, modification, or abuse voids this warranty. MAPerformance will not be held responsible for additional costs due to the failure of a product (cost of sale, towing, labor, etc.). Warranty claims must be submitted to MAPerformance for review.

    3.) You must create a support ticket to acquire your return authorization number prior to returning the product.

    4.) Warranty claims will not be honored if the product was not purchased through an approved dealer.

    Actually bought these to fit Brembo 4 piston calipers on 2014 Audi S4.
    Calipers are originally for Porsche Macan and Q5 with same calipers.
    We'll made product, looking forward to using them with improved cooling and higher quality brake fluid

    So according to my research these Girodisc Titanium pieces will help descipate heat faster in return prevents your brake fluid from boiling and cools your brakes faster and prevent lock. You’ll benefit a lot specially when you take your Evo for a spirited runs. Good quality titanium pieces. I got front and rear pieces for my Evo X.

    Titanium Heat Shields

    Shields were as advertised, fit well and came on time. I stoned the outline edges of the shields as they were a sharp unradiused edge. The shields fit my Mustang application with new brake pads installed at the same time. I have not yet collected any temperature data to assess their resistance but am so far pleased with the product.
