Cobb Accessport Components

Once you open the package, you’ll be greeted with a soft carrying case that holds all the components of the Accessport. Inside that case there is the accessport itself, two mounts (a quick mount and universal mount), a protective front cover, a USB and OBD cable, and some sick stickers and a keychain. Once you have all that, you can start your installation.
How to Install the Cobb Accessport

The first thing you’re going to do is find the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) Port under the center console near the foot brake and acceleration pedal. You will connect the Cobb ODB cable and plug the other end into the Cobb Accessport. Then you will start your engine and the device should turn on, if not, there is a power button on the top to get you started.
The controls on the accesport are simple. You have a middle button for selecting, two directional buttons to go up and down, and a left button for going back to the previous screen. Once you go through the initial screens, you will be able to pair the accessport to your engine.
Then you will be able to select which tune options you want. Stage 0 is your OEM setting. Moving up to Stage 1 means you are using a modified factory run for enhanced performance but you are still using stock parts, like the OEM downpipe, intake, unmodified cat-back exhaust, etc.
There are also multiple Stage 1 maps, so make sure you’re selecting the right one for your needs. When setting your tune, please make sure that your battery voltage is above 12 volts, we don’t want the vehicle to die while it is flashing the ECU.
If your battery’s voltage is unreliable or you’re not sure you have enough voltage, hook your car up to a battery and let it charge during this process.
As you wait for the accessport to pair with your vehicle, the device will prompt you to the vehicle into the Off State. That means the dash screen goes black, then you will press continue on the accessport. Then it will prompt you to go through another cycle and then you will turn the vehicle back off. This is part of the ECU reset process. This resets all the monitors and data that’s in the ECU.
After that, you will turn the vehicle off one last time and wait 15 seconds before starting the vehicle. Now that you have it installed, we’ll focus on the benefits of this ECU solution.
Features & Benefits of the Cobb Accessport

With the device’s pre-selected maps, you are still getting a better drive quality, with more power and responsiveness. Overall, it’s a more crisp driving experience that you’re looking for this with ECU upgrade.
The Cobb Accessport still offers OMS and pro-tuned options to turn it up a notch for that aggressive performance you’re looking for. You can review up to six data log monitors all at your fingertips. You can use these to work with a professional tuner or modify it yourself, whichever you’re comfortable with.
As a diagnostic tool, you can scan your engine to read and erase codes. If you have a check engine light, and it’s a non-issue, you can just clear that code, otherwise it gives you a heads-up about your vehicle’s maintenance needs, which is a plus.
You can also time yourself with this device if you want to know your 0-60 MPH time or quarter mile time. These are great tools for racing enthusiasts to adjust their vehicle’s performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this void my warranty?
Because you will most likely be tuning your vehicle outside of OEM standards, it will most likely void your warranty. With any vehicle mods, there is a risk of voiding the warranty.
Can you unplug the accessport?
Yes. Once you have flashed the accessport and you have tuned your vehicle to the appropriate settings, you can unplug it and stow it away until you want to flash it again, modify codes, or monitor diagnostic scans. There are plenty of tools in this device that have great value, but you don’t need it continuously plugged in after initial setup or during a data log.
How does this impact my gas mileage?
Because engine tuning impacts performance, including enhanced horsepower, as well as pushing your vehicle harder on the race track or on your daily drive, it will have an impact on your fuel efficiency. However, a benefit of engine tuning is that it optimizes your engine’s performance, so that will help your vehicle run more efficiently. You may see an increase in gas mileage as well, it all depends on how you tune your engine and your driving style.
Why should I buy a Cobb Accessport after the Green Speed Update?
There was an update to the access tuner programs that impacted how tuners change/calibrate maps that allowed them to modify emissions devices. Ultimately, this means that you will have to modify your maps to fit within the emissions standards set by your manufacturer and the US government. You can still get a lot of power while staying within these standards, so tuning your vehicle is something you can do while enhancing your build as you like.
