IHX475 Turbo Kit for MQB EA888 by Tomioka

The perfect bolt-on upgrade to make big power while retaining the original intake, downpipe, and intercooler! Derived from a stock IS38 housing from the VW MKVII Golf R and Audi S3, Tomioka Racing increased the factory housing velocity volume in order to house larger and better bearings, compressor wheel, and turbine.

This turbocharger is completely new and manufactured from the ground up. Rather than putting new internals in a stock IS38 housing, Tomioka Racing constructed their own housing to use with the custom internals, proving beneficial as all defects with the stock IS38 internals and housing have been corrected such as housing cracking and stock shaft breaking. The IHX475 is the next step up for making power with the VAG MQB platform modular chassis and EA888 1.8T/2.0T engines. Thanks to a reengineered billet compressor wheel, the IHX475 is able to deliver more power with quicker response than a stock Golf R/S3 turbocharger, maintaining its durability in high boost situations. Created for longevity with strict tolerances, the turbocharger is VSR balanced at high speeds.

To aid the turbo in making power, included with the kit is an upgraded Aluminum Turbo Inlet Pipe and full billet CNC machined Diverter Valve. A Carbon Fiber Turbo Blanket Heatshield is also included along with a CNC machined turbo muffler delete to really hear the spool!

Quick little baby turbo

I bought my IHX475 when there wasn’t as many options. I’d say now I’d go with a DBV2. But this turbo surprised me. 2015 A3 and I have a best of a 6.9 1/8 and 10.9 1/4. (Think the 1/4 could be better as I pulled my catback and it was over boosting in 4th and pulling timing) If you’re looking for a quick DD this is a great turbo, though if you’re dragstrip based there are better options. The options also cost more, so it’s what your needs/budget allow.

i have 2017 audi a3 and i couldnt be happier turbo was great fitment and install was straight forward . The best part is the power in the upper rpms so if your considering it i would definatly pull the trigger . Also added bonous is mapperformance awesome customer service

Pleased with turbo

The turbo was shipped from 3rd party and arrived pretty quickly. turbo bolts right on, I ordered the install kit from another vendor. (which I would recommend) The increase in power is definitely noticeable, website kind of makes it seem like you bolt on without a tune, I wouldn’t recommend it. Turbo is becoming more popular so tunners are becoming familiar with it. Takes quite a bit longer to spool than the is20 but when it does it’s bothing but smiles.
