Recommends for the MK7.5 Golf R

This is my first-day impression. The installation was very easy. I found a YouTube video that demonstrated how to remove windshield washer nozzles. After you do that it's basically just swap the hood latch over to the new hood, swap over 4 little bumpers, 4 nuts and you're done. My main concern revolved around how well the washer nozzles would fit in the seibon hood but they ended up fitting perfectly and reinstalling those was quick and easy.
On a scale of 1 to 10 for how well it fits on the car I would give it a nine. The four rubber bumpers are basically like large screws and you use those to adjust how the hood rests. Of course you will also need to make some adjustments where the hood connects to the hinges but the process is not hard at all. The Seibon hood uses a gel coat which is not as UV protective and not super shiny so I'm going to get a clear coat sprayed on as well. Seibon says hood latches are required so I bought some really nice Quik-Latch latches but the hood seems extremely secure just like OEM and I don't know if the latches are really necessary.
Definitely need two people to remove the old hood and install the new one. The hardest part of the process was figuring out what I would use for the heat shield. I ended up using Thermo-Tec 13575 12"x24" sheets from Amazon. I also taped the seams and gaps with Design Engineering 010416 Cool Tape 30' roll. Installing the heat barrier was a time-consuming process. I was hoping the OEM heat shield would fit but it did not.
Weight: The OEM steel Hood is 35.5 lbs and Seibon hood is 20 lbs with the heat barrier materials installed, as indicated by my postal scale. So you're looking at about 15 lbs weight savings off the front of the car. I'm happy with that.
I may have a different opinion five years from now but I am very happy with this hood.
