Titanium Front Brake Shim Set for 2017+ Honda Civic Type-R by PRL Motorsports
When you're pushing your Civic Type-R through corners, braking hard, and making the most of its performance capabilities, your braking system has a lot of work to do. Repeated hard braking generates significant heat, and as temperatures rise, that heat can transfer from the brake pads into the calipers and brake fluid. Excessive temperatures can lead to brake fade, reducing stopping power and compromising braking consistency when it matters most.
PRL Motorsports Titanium Front Brake Shims are designed to help manage that heat. Specifically designed for the front brake calipers on the FK8 and FL5 Civic Type-R, these shims sit between the brake pads and caliper pistons, creating a thermal barrier that helps limit heat transfer into the braking system.
Constructed from high-strength 6AL-4V (Grade 5) titanium, each shim measures 1.0mm thick and offers significantly lower thermal conductivity than traditional steel shims. This helps reduce the amount of heat reaching the calipers and brake fluid, supporting more consistent braking performance during aggressive driving.
