    BRZ / FR-S / 86 MAPerformance Turbo Kit

    When it’s time for a turbo upgrade, there are many things to take into consideration. Missing one thing may mean you have to order additional parts or run the risk of damaging your engine. At Modern Automotive Performance, our turbo kits are legendary for how completely they cover all your needs, and this kit for the 2012-2016 Subaru BRZ and Scion (Toyota) FR-S shows exactly that.

    This FRS turbo kit or BRZ turbo kit is surprisingly flexible — you’ll get your choice of a journal bearing or ball bearing turbocharger, depending on your preference. You’ll also see options for a fuel pump or fuel injectors, blow off valve, compressor cover and A/R size. We also offer options for ceramic coatings for the manifold or downpipe, and you can choose to throw in a PTP Lava Turbo Blanket or MAP Crash Beam.

    Our kit suits a wide range of power goals, from an extra 300 horsepower on pump gas to more than 700 horsepower on E85 for the track. The kit is also highly upgradeable — by including the wide range of parts, the only thing you’ll need to do after installation is some tuning.     BRZ / FR-S Turbocharger Selection

    There are key benefits to both journal bearing and ball bearing center sections. The decision really comes down to personal preference and budget. Ball bearing turbos are designed to offer increased support to the turbine shaft in such applications where sustained load on the center section would decrease the longevity of a journal bearing center section. Ball bearing center sections requires less oil to provide adequate lubrication, this reduces oil temps and minimizes the chance for seals leaking and oil starvation after your engine has been shut down. Journal bearings work well in most situations, they are more affordable than their ball bearing counterparts and offer greater longevity in applications where maximum load under sustained duration is not needed. OEM turbos are typically journal bearing because they are reliable under more moderate boost levels, cost effective and are typically, more serviceable. Ball bearing turbos are more reliable in sustained higher boost applications and offer better transient boost response.

    We utilize Fuel Injector Clinic injectors in our 2013 Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S T3 Turbocharger kit that are precisely flow matched to within 1%. We have outlined the capabilities of the different sizes below, however, these horsepower ratings do not take into account the octane of gas which will ultimately be the deciding factor on the limitations of a particular setup. Additionally, E85 applications require significantly more fuel thus the need for larger fuel injectors to attain similar horsepower levels in comparison to gas.

    The largest and the highest-flowing BOV in the Turbosmart range has just been redesigned and now features our unique collar design. 46% lighter and 25% smaller than the product it replaces, the new Race Port provides greater performance through faster turbo spool-up from idle and reduced turbo lag between gears.

  • FRS/BRZ Full Blown Motorsports Cast Aluminum Oil Pan

    The The Full Blown Motorsports Cast Aluminum Oil Pan didn't make sense to design and produce a FRS/BRZ oil pan just for the oil return port. There for, we decided to engineer our oil pan with additional features to make it worth doing. The days of drilling and tapping the Scion FRS, Subaru BRZ, and FT86 oem pans are soon to be over. We have sold many pre-tapped pans up to date. Being that this platform is so new, the dealers have a limited supply on hand and we find ourselves occasionally waiting for stock.

    Benefits of Ceramic Coating

    Our advanced ceramic coating option helps control heat soak. The piece is coated in a thermal barrier (available in black only) that looks great and protect wires and hoses from heat. Please note the coating may need some extra "curing" to prevent flaking after installation. Please allow the part to heat up during normal driving or idling and then completely cool before putting it through it's paces.

    The PTP Turbo Lava Blanket isolates the heat produced by your turbocharger, and prevents that heat from damaging, or even igniting, components surrounding the turbocharger within your engine compartment, such as plastic and rubber hoses and electrical wiring, as well as painted surfaces, such as the engine bay and the surface of the hood. Also, it prevents areas of localized high temperature from damaging the engine itself.

    MAP Limited Lifetime Warranty

    1.) All MAPerformance in-house fabricated parts include a Limited Lifetime Warranty for the Original Purchaser. This warranty only applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferrable. If the product fails it would need to be determined by MAPerformance that it is due to manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship.

    2.) This does not cover normal wear and tear. Improper use, modification, or abuse voids this warranty. MAPerformance will not be held responsible for additional costs due to the failure of a product (cost of sale, towing, labor, etc.). Warranty claims must be submitted to MAPerformance for review.

    3.) You must create a support ticket to acquire your return authorization number prior to returning the product.

    4.) Warranty claims will not be honored if the product was not purchased through an approved dealer.
