Anytime you're boring a block distortion will occur to the cylinders unless you have a honing/torque plate installed as a brace. Ours is CNC machined from 2" thick 6061 billet aluminum. The top and bottom sides are face milled to ensure absolute flatness of the plate. They are bored .020 over, we include 4130 chrome-moly stud inserts to keep the plate from damaging during the torque down process.
Was not too happy, the bore holes were too small in the plate. Had to Machine the holes prior to machining the block. Also, the spacers for the head bolts were too short. Had to add 1/4 inch worth of washers to each head bolt. Plate was honestly about $175 over priced for the quality.
