3" Cat-Back Exhaust System for 2015 - 2017 Volkswagen GTI by APR

The APR Catback Exhaust System personalizes your vehicle's looks, sound and performance. Beautifully hand-crafted T304-stainless-steel components adorn the system with stunning TIG-welding throughout. Our straight-through brushed-finished mufflers are configurable to your desire, smoothing the exhaust note to a deep growl, without adding restrictions, rasp or drone. Strong high-quality bracketry and OEM-style clamps hold the system steadily in place, making the install or removal a snap, and fitment simple, yet precise. A cast 3" to dual 2.5" rear splitter creates an ultra-smooth transition, steadily feeding exhaust gasses out of the system, while looking tidy from under the rear bumper. Finally, removable 4" polished slash-cut exhaust tips finish the system, adding a classy motorsport-inspired touch to the rear of the vehicle.

After trying several others, this is the one I was looking for.

I've tried several exhausts so far for my 2017 VW GTI. Clubsport S muffler, MBRP, and AWE Track- the APR sounds the best to me. The Clubsport sounded like stock- just louder. MBRP is loud all the time- too much for me on trips more than 1 hour long. The AWE was good, but the tone wasn't low enough. For me, the deep tone of the APR is the best one I've heard. The volume isn't too loud. Cruising around it's nice and quiet, but when you're on it, it gets loud and sounds great. The resonance point of this exhaust is different from the others- it does get louder under load from 2300-2500 rpm. It's just a little louder in that rpm range when on the highway, going up hill for instance. It's not really a drone, just a bit louder, and not annoying, just noticeable. Install was nice and easy- took me about 2.5 hours by myself on the garage floor from pulling the car in, to putting the tools away. Overall I'm very happy with this system, and it will be the one that I finally keep on my car.
