Can I put LED bulbs in my headlights?

There are a lot of misconceptions about LED light bulbs and modern car headlights. Some people think that they can’t put them in their headlights, and some people think that they can only be used for a decoration type of headlight bulb. That is not the case! You can certainly use LED lights as your automotive headlight bulbs of choice.

How do I know which headlight bulb to buy?

The automotive industry has come a long way since the first headlights were used on cars. Nowadays, car headlamps are made with multiple bulbs and offer different colors that can be changed to match your lifestyle.  With so many options and brands, it’s hard to choose the type of headlight bulb for your car.

When it comes to headlight bulb replacement, there are a few things to take note of.

  1. If you want to replace your headlight bulb with an LED, whiter light, or a brighter bulb, make sure that it can be used for both low beam (regular driving lights) and high beam (brights). If the bulb only works for low beam, it won’t work for your high beams, and vice versa!
  2. There are three main types of automotive headlight bulbs: Halogen bulbs, HID, and LED. Halogen bulbs work well in most situations, but they can be a little more expensive than other options. HID automotive headlights use electricity instead of gas to create light and offer great visibility at night. They also last much longer than traditional automotive lights and can even last up to 100,000 miles before needing replacement. Finally, LED automotive headlights are the newest type on the market today with their bright white light that’s perfect for night and foggy weather conditions.

If you have a modern car, the headlight type that is right for you will depend on your needs and budget as headlight bulbs can be expensive to replace each time they burn out.

Which is better: HID or LED headlight bulbs?

In regards to HID bulbs or LED lights being better, it really depends on your needs. They both produce brilliant white light and a different pattern of light compared to other bulbs on the market.

LED lights use less power than HIDs, and HID bulbs take more time to reach full illumination. That said, they both last just as long, and are great choices for your modern car headlights and replacement bulbs.

The brightness of an LED bulb and HID bulb are both definitely brighter than regular incandescent bulbs, but are they truly better headlight bulbs? It’s true that you’ll be able to see further and brighter downroad, which could equate to safer driving.
