Evo X Intercoolers & Upgrades
Why should I upgrade my intercooler?
Are you looking to get more out of your Evo X? One of the best upgrades you can do it replace the stock intercooler with a larger, better flowing one. There are multiple choices when it comes to size, from 3 to 4 inches depending on your horsepower goals. Many people also opt for anodized colors on their intercooler and piping to look great in the engine bay and peeking (or staring in some cases) out the front bumper.
Types of end tanks
There are also various types of end tank designs to consider when shopping for a new intercooler. Sheet metal end tanks typically have harsh angles where it has been bent or welded which adversely affects airflow. Cast end tanks are a step up, but can have casting imperfections which can not only affect airflow inside, but can make them look less aesthetically pleasing. On the top end you have CNC machined billet end tanks, milled out from a single piece of aluminum. These designs are tested for optimum air flow in and out, and they look great to boot.
