The Triplex Ceramic ball bearing technology results in several important performance improvements compared to a conventional sleeve bearing systems. One important advantage is that the Triplex Ceramic can carry both axial and radial loads so that the need for a conventional thrust bearing is eliminated. The power loss attributed to a conventional thrust bearing is proportional to the fourth power of the radius and can amount to several horsepower at the high speeds at which turbochargers operate. The Triplex Ceramic is capable of carrying both high thrust loads and radial loads at the same time and usually absorb only fractions of a HP due to the anti friction characteristics.

The Triplex Ceramic balls are also 60% lighter than steel balls and operate with lower vibration levels. Since centrifugal forces are significantly reduced at high speeds, their service life is two to five times longer. There is less heat build-up in the ceramic bearings during operation and they can reach operational speed up to 50% higher than steel ball bearings. These favorable mechanical characteristics of the ceramic ball bearings make them an ideal choice for turbocharger bearing systems that run at high operating speeds and are subjected to high exhaust gas temperatures.

Terrible customer service on the part of Comp Turbo

Similar to the other review, MAPerformance was nothing but great. However Comp Turbo themselves are absolutely terrible to deal with. I waited about a month for my turbo to arrive, it came with the wrong housing and I immediately let them know of the mistake. Then it took over a month for them to send me the correct housing, after constant calling of their customer service and getting the run-around. Due to the over 2 month waste of timeIi have missed my chance this season to see if this turbo is even any good. Either way I don't recommend this brand, if you want to complete your build in a timely manner consider another brand of turbo.

COMP TURBO lacks a lot as a company

I bought a comp turbo from MAPerformance few months back, I have to say MAPerformance has amazing customer service, top notch. Unfortunately for me I had the worst luck with COMP TURBO, delivery took around 3 weeks, then I got a turbo with odd water ports size, comp turbo said they didn't know the exact size since it wasn't the advertised 3/8, it was M16x1.5, anyway that didn't bother me, but then the turbocharged failed right at 395 miles running only 11 psi, MAPerformance helped me get in touch with COMP TURBO, they gave me an RMA# and I sent the turbo back to them, they failed to communicate with me and confirm they had the turbo. After 2 weeks I got an email telling me they were going to look at the turbo next morning, fix it and send it back to me, another week went by and they finally sent the turbo, they didn't even call me to let me know it was shipped, whatever... Finally I received the turbo only to realize they sent the WRONG turbo!!! I mean what else is going to go wrong? Anyway, they told me they were emailing me a label for overnight shipping immediately, apparently they forgot and I didn't get the label. Well, it is easy to see what kind of company they are and what kind of quality products they sell. At this point all I want to do is sell the turbo, I already bought a Garrett turbo and I will never spend another penny on COMP, some of their turbos work, but a lot of them don't.
