Radium Engineering Dual Catch Can Kit (2008+ Evolution X) 20-0108 - Modern Automotive Performance

This installation kit was specifically designed for the 2008+ Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. An oil catch can is essential on a performance vehicle to protect the engine from elevated levels of crankcase blow-by accumulated from aggressive driving. Excess oil saturated air circulating back into the air intake stream can lead to degraded performance. Unlike many catch cans on the market, this catch can features an integrated oil separator that accelerates oil condensation. This cleans the PCV gasses and reduces the oil build-up on the inside of the intake tract and intake manifold and intercooler. The stainless steel filtration media is cleanable and reuseable. The catch cans act as a filter and collect the oil and other sludge and keep it out of vital engine components. Features: -Effectively raises the octane and increased engine performance from cleaner inlet air -Prevents oil buildup in the intake or intercooler system walls, throttle body, intake manifold, etc. -Excessive oil collection can be an indicator of a damaged engine. -Lowers hydrocarbon emissions -Capacity: 6 fluid ounces -Height (without fittings): 5 inches -Outside Diameter: 2.45 inches EVO X CATCH CAN KIT DETAILS Radium Engineering offers two completely independent oil catch can kits for the Evo X that are sold individually or together using the drop down menu above. They do NOT vent to atmosphere (VTA), thus are emissions and track legal. Closed loop systems route clean filtered air back in through the engine to be burned and to promote negative crankcase pressure for optimal performance. Furthermore, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors into the cabin. The PCV Catch Can Kit (shown below) installs immediately behind the RH headlight and plumbs in-line with the PCV hose. When the intake manifold pressure is close to or greater than atmospheric pressure, the PCV "check" valve closes and, thus, this hose experiences no flow. Conversely, the PCV hose will experience "metered" vacuum when the engine is idling, steady state cruising, and decelerating. This would normally draw unwanted crankcase vapor, unspent fuel, and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after a high load run. Note: Because the Radium catch cans are pressure sealed, they are great for boosted applications as well so connecting to the intake manifold is permitted and will withstand any boost level. The Crank Case Catch Can Kit (shown below) installs immediately behind the LH headlight and plumbs in-line with the crank case vent hose. This is the hose that connects from the port on the valve cover to the turbo air intake pipe. During low engine loads, this hose experiences atmospheric pressure, but when the engine is at high load (WOT), this hose will experience vacuum and would normally be drawing unwanted crankcase vapors, unspent fuel, and oil sludge into the air filter intake pipe, turbocharger compressor and intercooler system. The Radium oil catch can keeps that from happening. For the ultimate in engine protection, Radium recommends installing both catch can kits. PCV Kit Includes: -Radium billet oil catch can with integrated condenser and dipstick -Radium laser cut powder coated application specific mounting bracket -Anodized aluminum hose ends and adapter fittings -Rubber hose to mate to custom applications -Stainless steel mounting hardware Crank Case Vent Kit Includes: -Radium billet oil catch can with integrated condenser and dipstick -Radium laser cut powder coated application specific mounting bracket -Anodized aluminum hose ends and adapter fittings -Rubber hose to mate to custom applications -Stainless steel mounting hardware PETCOCK DRAIN KIT OPTION -Anodized -4AN O-ring barbed fitting -Nylon ¼” barb mini ball valve -6ft high temperature rated 1/4" rubber hose This kit, sold seperately, can be used to remotely drain the catch cans without the need to unscrew the canister body.

    Great Kit

These Catch Cans make your Engine Bay look serious, Had them for a couple of months now, and they're doing their job greatly.
Every 5,000 miles i empty them and find oil residue in them, which harm your engine.
    Highly recommended.

    Nice kit

I must say, the install was easy and the parts were of very high quality.

It seems to have cured the smoke out of my tailpipes that started to occur after installing a 7163 kit. I wish I'd known in advance that this is what was necessary to negate the smoke.

I had to purchase the alternate bracket due to my ETS Intake, and I would suggest that in pretty much any aftermarket intake case you'll need the alternate bracket. It was pretty impossible to get the lower bolt in, so it's just running one today.

    Nice fit and finish!

I purchased these catch cans because the fit and finish looked superior to others on the market. I was not disappointed! As a mechanical engineer I am a bit of a perfectionist and can appreciate the efforts Radium has taken to manufacturer such a quality piece. I would rank this item at 4.5 stars for great fit, finish, and quality. The only reason they are not a 5 star is due to cost.

    Dual Catch Can Kit

    Pro's:
    - High quality
    - All hardware included
    - Detailed guide

    Con's:
    - Somewhat pricey
    - Minor modification needed
    - Tight clearance.

These cans are very high quality. They provide you with the needed hardware and installation is pretty straight forward with the guide they give you. There has been no leaks and cosmetically look very nice.

You do have to bend your power steering lines a bit which is freaky at first but isn't hard. Clearance is very tight which might give you trouble. Otherwise I would definitely recommend this product for anyone looking for a catch can system out there.

Note: I did customize the breather catch can to have -10 AN fittings which you would need Kozmic's -10 AN valve cover fittings, aluminum valve cover, and -10 AN bung to your intake. This helps with if you want to stay with stock crankcase system as it opens up the breather to get rid of more pressure. Great for up to 450-500 whp.

Also I recommend the drain kit setup to make it easier to drain, at least on the PCV side.
