Carbon Fiber Intake System by AMS Performance

Our AMS Performance VW Golf R MKVII Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake Upgrade was designed to draw a higher volume of cold air into the stock turbocharger. With this intake installed, bulky air filter boxes are replaced with our carbon fiber tubing and dry media filter. This eliminates clutter within the engine bay while drawing cold air from outside. The MK7 Golf R Cold Air Intake Kit is a vast improvement over the stock intake system and supports power levels up to 600HP!

We selected a motorsports grade carbon fiber that is both hand-laid and high temperature resistant. Other options on the market use the typical gloss clear coated carbon fiber prone to discoloration and cracking. Our AMS Golf R MKVII Intake Kit uses 3-layers of 1mm twill weave prepreg carbon fiber capable of sustaining a 240C temperature threshold while maintaining structural integrity and aesthetic appearance with no worry of fading or yellowing over time. The AMS Carbon intake also eliminates the engine bay vents that are found on the factory intake. These vents allow the OEM car to pull in hot engine bay air for startup and fuel consumption requirements to the detriment of performance. By opening up the entire front grill and eliminating these warm air vents, 100% of the airflow is cold air being brought in from the front grill of the car.

Intake came perfectly packaged. Carbon weaves was flawless and install was a breeze. Only took 40 min, it's a closed intake so you just hear a little bit of the induction. If your looking for more sound then I would recommend open box. I wasn't looking for sounds I was looking for performance and quality build. Great work AMS

Cold air Intake

Well made, shipped ok.
Instructions are a little vague and with many spelling/sentence errors considering it's made in the USA.
The 'grommets" referred to in the instructions are three attachment points for the factory air box, they appear to be some type of fastener at first look..not grommets..these need silicone spray and need pulled straight up..dont try to remove these any other way as they will break.
Mounting the new box has difficulties as well..the carbon fiber box wouldnt fit over one of the "grommets" like it's supposed to..about a quarter inch too far forward. Had to shave down the grommet stem to get it to slip into the hole in the new airbox.
The large rubber grommet that attaches the turbo pipe to the airbox is quite a challenge to get on right,,if you don't it loosens up with driving and will need checked occasionally
I guess it's difficult to make aftermarket parts to fit all the cars out there with minor irregularities.
Overall it worked in the end, looks nice and operates as it should..
