A turbocharger heat shield acts as a barrier for radiant heat produced by the turbocharger's turbine housing. Deflecting this heat down protects key components in the engine bay which rely upon cooler ambient temperatures.
The COBB Tuning Heatshield is a replacement for the factory turbo heat shield found on most Subarus. Installing a turbocharger heat shield goes hand in hand with an aftermarket downpipe install as the factory sheilds will not fit without modification.

I’ve had this in my car for awhile, and wanted to wait a while to review it, just to be sure. After several engine washes, removals, and years on my car this thing cleans up just like it was when I peeled the plastic off! Every time it’s out I give it a little wipe down and it looks brand new again! I highly recommend.

Just like it says in the title. If you're getting an aftermarket downpipe, do yourself a huge favor and get this turbo heat shield. Your intercooler will thank you.
