The plastic clutch master cylinder on the 2008+ Evolution X has been known to fail when an aftermarket clutch is used. The increased clamping force provided by aftermarket clutches puts an increased strain on the hydraulic clutch system causing the factory master cylinder to split open and lose pressure leaving you stranded. By adapting the factory steel unit from an EVO VIII/IX, we are able to prevent a failure associated with increased fluid pressure from aftermarket clutch kits and spirited driving.
Our engineers looked at all aspects of our Upgrade Kit to improve longevity and ensure this is the last clutch master cylinder you will ever buy for your Evolution X. The adapter bracket is anodized to prevent corrosion and we chose to incorporate a steel ball-cup link for strength and durability. The design also uses a nylon coated, stainless braided, Teflon hydraulic line for maximum reliability and abrasion resistance. Our engineers paid close attention to every detail, even incorporating a sealing foam ring to keep moisture and dirt out of the passenger compartment.

I recently bought the competitor's equivalent, hoping to fix a leaky clutch master without having to drill the pins off from the firewall. Unfortunately, that has been noisy and made the clutch pedal rather heavy. My mechanic could not resolve it, and after diagnosis I was worried that the cylinder itself could be remanufactured.
So I bite the bullet and bought this tried-and-true AMS clutch master cylinder. After installation, I could not believe how smooth, light, and quiet the clutch pedal feels. It has proven to me that AMS truly cuts no corners when it comes to crafting aftermarket products. Some old folks believe that the new things are rarely as good as time-tested old things, and now I'm convinced that it's true that nothing beats AMS if you want to keep your Evo reliable.

Obviously you can see why the picture alone shows how the OEM CMC is just a plastic ticking time bomb waiting to break. Mine started going out immediately after installing an exedy twin clutch.
Installing isn't a fun process, as grinding through the studs for the new CMC base to bolt onto the firewall can be difficult in that small corner, but once you're through it's not so bad.
Also after fighting it, I ditched the clip that connects the CMC to the pedal and it went right on after that.
Clutch feels way better when going through gears like never before.
I purchased this after noticing my factory plastic CMC had started leaking. Upon receiving it I immediately noticed the quality. A strong, properly built metal CMC that will undoubtedly last for many years. The clutch pedal feels much more better. This CMC is adjustable and the shop I took it to set it so that the clutch disengages not as high as the factory one did. Since the kit came with a new stainless line to the slave; I also had the shop remove the restrictor pill. This made for a more responsive feel to the clutch. Overall highly satisfied with this product from AMS. MAPerformance had great pricing and shipping as usual!
Was looking around for a new cms and after looking around at different websites. Found that maperformance was the quickest to deliver. Not only that also fair in pricing. Installed the new cylinder and my car works like new! Ams clutch master cylinder kit is the way to go!
