Exhaust systems are like plumbing. The size and configuration helps water flow through as efficiently as possible at a certain pressure. Get one thing wrong and water drips when it should gush.
Performance drivers know that air is the magic ingredient for their vehicles. Without proper airflow, all the benefits of a turbo system can be wasted. Drivers who have invested in a turbo system for their car will want to consider the advantages of an aftermarket downpipe. A downpipe is basically custom plumbing for your setup — it’s designed to handle the extra air from boost system and push that spent exhaust away as quickly as possible, making room for more fresh air.
Every curve, slope and grade of a downpipe plays an important part of this purpose. Pipes that are bent with a cheap crushing process can restrict that airflow. Pipes that aren’t made from quality materials can corrode from the heat of the engine bay.
In addition to offering a number of downpipes from the industry’s best manufacturers, at Modern Automotive Performance we’ve been fabricating our own downpipes and components. Our in-house fabricators use higher-quality 304 stainless steel for durability and performance. We use Mandrel bending to make sure the airflow is as efficient as possible, and in some cases, an advanced ceramic coating further improves exhaust velocity. Some downpipes also offer integrated wideband O2 bungs and external wastegates.
We’ve been helping customers since 2006, and our staff has decades of experience with performance racing needs.
