We just returned from our third round of Formula Drift in St Louis, MO at World Wide Technology Raceway. We ended up coming out on top, taking home the victory and a 1st place podium spot. It was a huge win for the Alec Robbins Racing team as we move past the halfway point in the Formula Drift Pro2 championship. We came into this round sitting in 17th position and came out in the top 5, putting us in the race for the championship. We are currently just 41 points behind the points leader going into the last round of Pro2 at Texas Motor Speedway next month.
The weekend could not have gone smoother. From the moment that the car left the trailer, not a single adjustment needed to be made. From our first practice run to our last battle, we stayed consistent all weekend. The new layout proved to be tough for a lot of teams. It went from hard on-throttle straights to very hard braking and tight inner clips. Our car stayed planted and stable, allowing us to be on throttle as much as possible. We played it safe and consistent and ended up qualifying 8th going into competition. After running 3 one-more-times in Atlanta at our last round, I knew I had to throw down some undeniable battles and make it easy for the judges.. and we did. Winning all but one battle unanimously. Running our consistent lead laps round-after-round and keeping close proximity on our follow runs was enough to bring us all the way to the top spot. We had some great competition and had a blast driving with all of them! We are looking to take this momentum into Texas for the final round of this tight championship race!
