STI Performance Concept Unveiled at New York Auto Show

Posted on 02 April 2015

The STI Performance Concept seen at the New York Auto Show will likely not hit US Market, but it's exciting none the less!

We've been waiting for over a year for information regarding Subaru's STi Performance line in the US market. Last year at the Chicago Auto show, Subaru showed off a new BRZ concept car, teasing features such as upgraded exterior accessories and more aggressive handling. Fans were buzzing at the time, but excitement floundered as time went on. [caption id="attachment_13401" align="alignnone" width="615"]Click image to shop Subaru BRZ Performance Parts! Click image to shop Subaru BRZ Performance Parts![/caption] Sneaky-sneaky Subaru bounced back to the 2015 New York Auto show with news for Subaru enthusiasts, showing off a much improved STi Performance BRZ concept packing what everyone wanted in 2014 - a turbocharged engine! The concept retains it's aggressive exterior accessories, it's STi inspired suspension, and race ready interior. It's literally what everyone has been asking for in a BRZ for the last 3 years. [gallery columns="5" ids="13396,13397,13398,13399,13400"] There's only one problem - it's a one-off concept that will likely never see production, or at least in it's current state. Subaru designed the car based off what consumers wanted in hopes of generating enough interest to convince Subaru top-guns that it's worthy of mass production. According to Subaru USA President Tom Doll, the current Concept still has lots of testing and tweaking to undergo and is far from a production Concept. [gallery columns="5" ids="13391,13392,13393,13394,13395"] Sadly we have to ooh and ahh at the BRZ STi's specs in Concept form:
  • Stiffer STI-spec suspension
  • New 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Custom Brembo discs and pads
  • Track inspired rear wing
  • New aero package (new front and rear bumpers, carbon fibre mirrors and side skirts),
  • Chassis Braces - to better control body roll
  • Flexible tower strut bar designed by STI
  • EJ20 2.0 liter twin scroll turbocharged engine
  • 345hp/322tq
  • 6-speed transmission
Certainly enough to send a Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S lover into a envy induced coma. We'll have to keep an eye on what become of STi Performance in America, as well as other countries. Who know's what technology might sneak it's way into a concept car designed to generate buzz. Did someone say AWD?

I’m curious how they got 345hp with the ej20 and the standard twinscroll turbo. Not impossible, just curious. If that’s possible lets see those number on the wrx from the factory.
