A boost controller works by limiting air pressure delivered to the wastegate actuator. A boost controller can be a simple manual style which is adjusted by turning a knob or screw, or it can be part of the ecu in a factory turbo car, or an aftermarket electronic boost controller; both of which utilize electronic solenoids.
