After three separate 1-2 hour dyno sessions (customer cars come first and late night tuning is not looked upon kindly around here) we have reached a power level that we feel will be adequate as we continue our quest for an 8 second pass in our 3000lb street legal Evo 8. In the process we have set the bar pretty high for the stock ECU horsepower record I realize that some of the information below is identical to that of our previous post, but we simply cannot say enough about the stock ECU developers and our sponsors that made this a reality!

I want to take a brief moment to thank everyone who made it out for our weekend. We had a great time, and from what I saw everyone else did too. We fell into the category of people with some issues, but that’s racing.

It’s been a long journey, but I believe we’ve reclaimed the highest horsepower stock ECU record We don’t expect this to last long as we’ve got some stiff competition out there, but this was only 37psi and although its cliche, there’s a lot left in it We’ll be out at BIR this weekend to see what she can do (albeit on stock suspension and street tires for now), yet another reason to attend our Proving Grounds event!

The MAP Stage 1 service is a great option for those looking to ensure that their cylinder head is in good working order and properly prepared for installation on a street or performance application. Please note there is no port work performed with this service.

The MAP Stage 2 service is our first cylinder head option that includes our porting and polishing service. We clean up the casting flash in both the intake and exhaust ports, improve bowl to seat blending, and unify all of the ports to ensure even flow to each cylinder! The end result is a fresh cylinder head that is ready for installation with a bit of extra airflow that is sure to free up some more ponies!

The MAP Stage 3 service improves upon our stage 2 cylinder head in two regards. We clean up the casting flash in both the intake and exhaust ports, improve bowl to seat blending, and unify all of the ports to ensure even flow to each cylinder just as we would in the stage 2 cylinder head service. Then we take it one step further with additional shaping and blending of the bowls and guide bosses for even more airflow. On top of that we upgrade the valve job from our standard 3 angle to a performance 5 angle for the absolute best airflow characteristics!

  • Perform 5 Angle Carbide Cut Valve Job

The MAP Stage 4 service improves upon our stage 3 cylinder head in many ways. We take the porting and polishing to yet another level (Stage 3 includes: clean up of casting flash, improve bowl to seat blending, reshaping and blending the guide bosses, unify and shape ports to ensure optimal flow) through more aggressive port work in the intake and exhaust ports, full combustion chamber reshaping and polishing, and unshrouding of the valve for improved flow on oversize valve applications. This is where we really start to see big improvements in regards to airflow and in turn horsepower!

MAPerformance Project Evo X MR hits the rollers…

Alright guys, here is the dyno graph from Project MR. This car runs very strong, and pulls through the gears incredibly smooth. True to it’s word the SSP 400 kit in the car is good to…. 400whp. This is where we had to stop as the clutch packs wouldn’t hold anymore. It’s off to SSP for an upgrade.
