Nissan R35 GT-R GTC-500 74" Adjustable Carbon Fiber Wing by APR Performance

Spanning 74 inches, the GTC-500 Carbon Fiber Adjustable Wing is the largest wing available in APR's catalog. With its optimized 3D airfoil shape, the GTC-500 is perfect for high speed touring applications and supplies an ample amount of downforce without causing excess drag.

All GTC Series wings feature an aerodynamic 3D designed airfoil shape to obtain the optimal balance of downforce. This design allows for a reduction in drag, yet maintains an ideal level of downforce. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis was performed on this wing to support validation of its aerodynamic design.

Each GTC Series airfoil is composed of lightweight and durable carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite materials. These airfoils contain pre-pregnated woven carbon fiber sheets for superior strength and low weight. All CFRP airfoils are made using pre-pregnated composite manufacturing processes (i.e. high-temperature autoclave and vacuum bagging) in high-quality aluminum billet molds.

Supporting the airfoils are 10mm "aircraft grade" 6061 billet aluminum pedestals that come in a flat black powder coat finish.

Truly Epic Wing

When I ordered the APR GTC-500 74 inch carbon wing it said it would ship in 2-3 weeks but it shipped the same day. It arrived early and damage free. This wing looks epic on the car and I would recommend this to anyone. The 74inch wing does extend pass the fenders just a little but not past the mirrors. Fits the trunk very well. I could not be happier with this.

Performance and Style

An amazing piece with immediately noticeable effects (see "performance" below). Installation was also easy and well thought out. The wing is VERY sturdy. The design is very natural for the car and fits well with the body lines. Just an FYI, APR sells a 71" and 74" version of this wing. The 74" is best suited when paired with the full aero body kit as it extends to the outside line of the skirts and splitter. The 71" seems to hug the rear fender line a bit closer. Performance wise, I don't think there is much of a difference. My only complaint, (one that I don't think deserves losing a "star") was that the leg on the driver side seems to be lifted about 2 mm off from the trunk. I don't think its an issue at all, but can be an issue if you have OCD. Other than this, the quality is top notch. I don't think there is a better combination of function AND form in this segment.

After having this part installed and driving on the freeway (along with the full Aero Kit), the aerodynamic effects were immediately apparent. Driving at freeway speed was like a new car. ON RAILS. The "comfort setting" for the suspension is basically rendered useless as the car compresses to the roadway at high speeds (I did this out of curiosity and confirmed my suspicions). Switch back to "R" mode and keep at speed, and the grip is very noticeable. I was amazed at the new feel of the car. Body roll is minimal when at speed.
